What experience do you have with dogs and other animals?
My love of animals began when I was a child. We always kept dogs, birds and pocket pets.(including hamsters, guinea pigs, rabbits, ferrets, mice, fish and all sorts of birds.)
By the time I was sixteen years old I was volunteering as a dog-walker at the West Vancouver SPCA. After graduating highschool I got a job up at UBC at the Animal Care Centre where I was a "rat-handler."
I started dog-walking professionally after moving to Victoria BC in 1997 and have never looked back!
I try to keep my knowledge current by keeping up with several dog forums and absorbing as much advice as I can from breeders and dog trainers.

How long are your walks?
Each walk is slightly different and I try not to "clock watch." On average, I'd say between forty minutes to one hour...although we have been gone as long as three hours!

What do we need to provide for the walks?
All I ask for is a properly fitting collar with identification attached and/or a current dog licence.
Don't forget to leave a towel out for those rainy days and muddy paws!
I'll provide my own leash, since they tend to get dirty and I often walk off with them. (bad habit!)
Of course I will also need a key to your home!

My dog can be aggressive with other dogs. Will you still take us on as a client?
Sorry. I require that all new clients are of sound temperament. Bringing a member into the group that disrupts the harmony just isn't fair to the other dogs.I also will not walk dogs that are ill or have been injured.

Do you walk puppies?
I ask that all dogs be over the age of six months, adult dogs be spayed or neutered, and all dogs have their vaccinations.(or titred if you choose)

What are your hours of operation?
Currently, I am walking dogs Monday through Friday.(That includes all holidays if they fall on a weekday. )

How many dogs do you walk at one time?
This varies. I do up to five group walks per day...so if I feel that I have an unbalanced or unmanageable group of dogs, I might have to bump yours to the next walk. (first-come-first-serve...it's only fair!)
On average, I have about five or six dogs per walk of varying sizes and age. Sometimes I may just have one or two!

Do I have to set up a regular schedule, or can your service be "on-call?"
Either one is just fine! Dogs on a regular schedule always take precedence...so please don't be disappointed if a time-slot is full!

How much notice do I need to give you if I need a dog walked that's not on a regular schedule?
Once I have already met you and walked your dog, I would appreciate a full day's notice. Thank you!

How does the weather affect your walks?
It usually doesn't!
The only thing that will stop me from picking up dogs is snow and ice. If the roads are icy, I won't risk it.
Walks also might be shorter in the heat of the summer, depending on how the dogs are tolerating it.

What kind of vehicle to you use?
I own a small minivan with a sliding side door that is low to the ground. Ideal for small or elderly dogs to climb into and easy on a dog's joints! Dogs are always leashed when entering or leaving the vehicle.

Do you provide daycare or boarding?
Sorry. I do not provide daycare or boarding at this time.

Are you insured?
Yes. I have Pet Sitter's Insurance with "Verge Insurance Group."
